At Clifton College, our aim is to make Science an interesting and attractive subject, which inspires each pupil to develop their academic skills, creativity, and knowledge of the scientific method.
We want to encourage pupils to ask questions and think critically, use scientific terms to frame their questions and hypotheses, and relate scientific knowledge and understanding to familiar phenomena, including their personal health and surroundings.
Teaching
At Clifton College, Science is an engaging and enjoyable subject. We emphasize the importance of the practical and investigative nature of science, and all lessons are led by specialist science teachers in fully-equipped science labs. We provide opportunities for the pupils to develop their skills, creativity, knowledge and understanding of Science through a range of activities. We teach them to work quantitatively, to use first-hand and secondary sources of information and to develop their use of ICT. We also encourage pupils to think carefully and to ask questions during their work; to communicate their ideas and information in a variety of ways (including ICT), using scientific terms and symbols; and to demonstrate their scientific knowledge and understanding.

Why Study At Clifton College?
We run a number of educational trips to places such as the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge, the Tyntesfield “Earthkeepers” centre and Bristol Zoo, and we regularly host visiting lecturers.
