Geography prompts pupils to take a look at the world in which they live, and provides an opportunity to investigate the physical and human characteristics of the world, and understand the close links between the human population and the natural environment. Geography encourages pupils to think on a wider scale and opens their minds to new and exciting ideas.

Teaching

As a department, we focus on teaching pupils to develop the skills needed to research and understand key issues in the world today. It also allows them to develop ways to express their own views and reactions; to draw conclusions from their studies; to use the appropriate terminology; and to make use of the relevant instruments, resources, and equipment that will help facilitate this process.

Fieldwork is a strong component of the Geography department at Clifton Prep and draws on investigative skills to produce maximum understanding of the processes at work on the Earth. The curriculum is ever evolving in line with the dynamic nature of our world.

Why Study at Clifton College?

Geography helps us to make sense of the fast changing world in which we live. Through Geography we unravel the mystery of people, places and environments. We are able to develop a sense of place, belonging, identity, coupled with awe and wonder at the world we live in.
