At Clifton College, Religious Studies develops a child’s core knowledge and deeper understanding of the role of religion, belief and ethics in the contemporary world in which we live. It extends their natural curiosity and broadens their understanding, aiding them to be confident enough to develop their own beliefs and values, while respecting the cultural and religious differences of others, thus preparing them for life in modern society.

Teaching

Religion is presented in a way that makes it relevant to all, and pupils are encouraged to contribute and be engaged. The importance of Religious Studies in the Preparatory School is to foster open minds, eradicate prejudices and encourage children to respect people of all faiths and none. The pupils build on previous knowledge and their home experience, and are encouraged to explore the history, beliefs and practices of the Abrahamic faiths and other major world religions or perspectives.

Why Study At Clifton College?

Our approach to the study of religion emphasises its themes, relevance and importance in the lives of each child and society as a whole.

We have our own school Chaplain, Rabbi and Jewish Life Co-ordinator, also often having a variety of speakers from different religions visit the school to share their experiences and trips to places of worship.
