The Pens Cross Country Race 2023

Last Thursday, we held our annual cross country event, The Pens. This event sees the whole school attempt a challenging route of varying distances through Ashton Court, with the Short Pen being 4.5km for Year 9, the Mid Pen being 5km for Years 10 & 11, and the infamous Long Pen topping 9km for the 6th form. The pupils compete not only for individual titles, but for their house as well.

The day did not disappoint and provided classic cross country conditions. The route was muddy and the weather inclement but the atmosphere was fantastic. Almost all of the staff attended, cheering the pupils on along the way. The pupils gave it their all, recognising that they were taking part in a historic event, steeped in Clifton tradition, and the number of sore legs the next day were testament to the effort exerted.
