Outstanding School Musical performance wows audience

A cast of 46 students recently performed Queen’s hit musical We Will Rock You in November at Clifton College in a four-night run. The musical is set in a post-apocalyptic future in which music and freedom of expression are banned and follows the story of the Bohemians searching for the dreamer, a teenage loner who hears lyrics and words in his head.

This was a challenging musical to tackle within the tight rehearsal period, but the students rose to it with gusto, loving the rebellious attitudes of the characters and the moments of tongue-in-cheek comedy. The performances went down a storm, with audiences enjoying Pop’s one-liners, clapping and singing along with the well-known music.

Standout performances were from Briden and Lizzie as the gutsy rebels Galileo and Scaramouche, Charmaine as the sultry yet terrifying Killer Queen and Christian as her sidekick Khashoggi. With outstanding performances, awesome lighting design and a knock-out band, the production created a real buzz around the college and was thoroughly enjoyed by audiences.
