Clifton College has been named one of three schools in the Bristol area to feature in the Sunday Times’ top 100 independent preparatory schools list.
Preparatory School Headmaster John Milne said: “We are delighted to be included in the list, which is based on our SATS results from 2014/15. It is testament to the dedication and work put in by both our staff and pupils.”
He added: “It is great to have this recognition after a particularly busy period where we have just completed a two-year review.”
We have introduced a number of new facilities, including a library specifically for the Pre-Prep, a Year 3 common room, and a Pre-Prep music room with specialist teachers. In addition, our sector-leading Forest School has been expanded, which most pupils from our Pre-Prep attend on a regular basis.
We have also completely modernised the Nursery, with large open-plan classrooms and a new playground, and extended our provision to also accept 2 to 4-year-olds.
Since September, the school day on Saturday for Years 4 to 8 has also been shortened from a full to a half day. For Years 4 to 6, the morning is now solely focused on sports and music activities, and Years 7 and 8 have two academic lessons followed by sport.
Mr Milne said: “A number of other schools have also made this change to their Saturday hours or traditionally play sport on a Saturday morning and this enables our pupils to take part in more tournaments and festivals.”
He added: “Our aim is to give our pupils as many opportunities as possible, to enable them to enjoy learning, and to ensure they fulfil their potential both in and out of the classroom.”
