Girls Cricket on The Close

Last week was a historic week for girls cricket at Clifton College as two consecutive matches were played on The Close for the first time.

The 1st XI hosted Kings Taunton in The 100 Cup Competition, fielding first there were wickets for Emily and Bea with Clifton chasing a tough Kings total of 149 runs. After an early wicket, the partnership of Bea and Joise notched up some important runs, followed by Taylor who was top scorer including 5 boundaries, but this was not quite enough to match the tough runs total laid out by the opposition.

The second match was played by the Girls 2nd XI who knocked up an impressive 144 runs. With Harriet and Jemima securing a 100 run partnership, the squad were as convincing with the ball, bowling Queens Taunton out for 76 in 19th over. Tilly and Tara then claimed two wickets each to wrap things up!

Exciting times for girls cricket at Clifton College lie ahead, both this season and for years to come. The U18s and U15s will be competing in the next round of the National Schools Cup over coming weeks ahead.
