A Level Physics students enjoy visit to Airbus

On Tuesday the 24th of September, a group of A Level Physics students were given the opportunity to visit Airbus in Bristol. Over the course of the day, they were able to visit different areas of the site, including the landing gear and fuel testing facilities. After lunch they had the opportunity to meet and talk to a group of apprentices on the company’s degree programme.

The group then enjoyed a fascinating workshop, where they learned about the difficulties and challenges involved in designing aeroplane wings that are both flexible enough to prevent snapping, whilst still being rigid enough to prevent the wing flapping. Overall, the day was an interesting and very inspiring experience for a group of future engineers and scientists!
