Clifton College Celebrates Outstanding A Level And BTEC Results

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all pupils who received their A Level and BTEC results today. Your commitment and perseverance have truly shone through, resulting in an outstanding set of achievements:

• 47% of all grades A/A* (or equivalent)

• 187 A/A* A Level grades

• 10 students with A*A*A*A* or A*A*A*

• 30 students with straight A/A*s

• 67 students with AAB or above

• 20 A*s in Maths A Level

• Grades were awarded across 36 A Level (or equivalent) subjects

This year we achieved some particularly impressive results in Fine Art (100% A*-B), Economics (96% A*-B), English Literature (94% A*-B), Photography (83% A*-B), Mathematics and Further Mathematics (80% A*-B) A Level qualifications. Along with Applied Psychology (100% D*s), Music Technology (100% Distinction) and Sport (88% D*-D), BTEC qualifications.

It has been a joy welcoming pupils back to the College this morning, celebrating their successes alongside friends, families and teachers.We caught up with a few pupils to hear more about the exciting next steps their fantastic results will lead them to…

Joung Youn, who joined Clifton College in the nursery, secured an incredible four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Music and will be going on to study Economics, Finance and Data Science at Imperial College London. She will miss the opportunities available at Clifton College, especially in music, where she played the violin and the organ, which she plans to continue pursuing at university.

Fergus, who also joined in the nursery, achieved an A* in Maths and three As in Further Maths, Physics and Computer Science, along with an A in his self-selected Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). He gained a place at Bath University, his first choice of university, to study Robotics Engineering. He praised his teachers for excellent support, especially in Physics where he attended extra clinics, and the House system as there was always someone available to speak to.

Heather obtained three A*s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, as well as an A in AS Further Maths. She will be starting at her first-choice university, Bath University, this September to read Mechanical Engineering. She was very grateful for the academic support she received, especially the one-on-one sessions available and will miss the environment around the College, all the new activities she tried including climbing and lots of different music groups, where she played the saxophone and the clarinet.

Halbie achieved double distinction in his Sport BTEC along with an additional A Level in Geography. He plans to take a gap year to further develop his tennis skills, and gain a Level 3 Tennis Coach Qualification, before going to university the following year to study Sports Performance. He praised his teachers for offering lots of support, and easy access to face to face interactions when needed.

Sophie who joined us in the Sixth Form, achieved two A*s in Maths and History, and an A in Chemistry. She achieved the grades to secure her first-choice place at Durham University to study Law. She will miss the people at Clifton College, the chatty and social environment with lots of friendly faces around, and also the sport on offer where she enjoyed cricket and hockey, and the opportunities in music, especially singing.We are delighted that the majority of our pupils have secured offers from their first‑choice universities, both in the UK and overseas, including the University of Hong Kong (HKU), Sciences Po (Paris), Yale University, and the University of Toronto. Their hard work and determination have resulted in an exceptional set of outcomes, opening the door to a wide range of exciting opportunities as they take their next steps beyond school.

The results are all the more impressive when you consider just how much this year group has achieved across all other aspects of school life from excellence in music and drama to outstanding sport. I wish every one of our students the very best for the future as they start new chapters in their lives and I thank them for all they have given to the College during their time here."
