Scholarships and Bursaries

Scholarships and Bursaries

Clifton has a history of bursarial philanthropy. We currently commit about 9% of our yearly income to bursaries which allows a limited entry.  We are committed to increasing the number of bursarial places over the coming years.

In order to support one pupil we need to raise:

£33,000 per annum for 7 years to provide a fully funded place for an 11 scholar
£33,000 per annum for 5 years to provide a fully funded place for a scholar from 13
£33,000 per annum for 2 years to provide a fully funded place for a 16 scholar
£3,300 per annum for 7 years to provide a 10% bursary for a scholar

“One thing which always amazes me about Clifton is the encouragement each individual student receives towards any area of study, not necessarily academic; there will always be a member of staff willing to accommodate the extra requirements needed for the fulfilment of a student’s wish to try new activities.

I have benefitted hugely from this aspect of Clifton; having heard of the numerous difficulties of fellow teenage musicians around the world of having a rigorous school environment which does not allow them time and freedom to perform, I am incredibly grateful for the support which Clifton College has given me.

Facing a future as a musician who wishes to perform full-time, I can reflect back on my ten years at Clifton fondly; this school has given me the confidence, support and the right environment to nurture my skills and to help me grow as a person, and echo the saying which describes Clifton most aptly – “the best school of all.”

“I cannot stress how great the impact Clifton’s scholarship and bursary schemes have had on my life. Everything I have achieved I owe to them, and much more significantly everything I will achieve I owe to them. Not just because I couldn’t afford Clifton, but because of the opportunities and experiences that this school and these schemes have given to me.”

“Getting this scholarship allowed me to create further goals in life. This great opportunity to study at a British school has increased the chance of my further life goals turning into reality. I am now considering applying to such universities like Oxbridge/UCL/Imperial. It was probably the key to my dreamt future.”
