Upper School

Along with our fees for standard terms, we also offer pupils flexible boarding options, and extra tuition where appropriate.

HM Forces Bursary

The Upper School offer a 20% Forces Bursary for the sons and daughters of serving members of HM Forces.

Sibling discount

The Upper School offers a 5% discount for a second child; a 20% discount for a third child; and a 50% discount for fourth and subsequent children. These are applicable only where siblings attend the School at the same time.

Additional fees

Materials used in the Design and Technology and Art Departments are charged separately, as are textbooks and stationery for Years 12–13. Years 9 to 11 will be provided with essential stationery and textbooks.
Certain other academic subjects may attract additional costs, particularly in the Sixth Form.

The cost of providing Learning Support and Public Examination fees, including remarking charges, will be passed on to parents. Parents should also anticipate additional charges associated with House, extra-curricular and other activities, such as certain games, trips and theatre outings.

Registration fees

This is a non-returnable payment of £150, due when a pupil’s name is entered.

Acceptance deposit

A deposit of £1,650 is required for pupils whose parents are EU citizens and resident within the EU. For all other pupils, a deposit of £11,000 is required. These requirements do not apply to pupils moving from Clifton College Preparatory School. The repayment of deposits is linked to the settlement of final fee invoices upon the departure of the pupil from Clifton College. Parents are welcome to Gift Aid the deposit to College when a pupil leaves.

Occasional boarding

Pupils paying the Day Boarding rates may stay for up to four nights per week. Any additional nights and occasional boarding for Day Pupils, is available on request at a charge of £64.50 per night.

Voluntary extras

Music lessons are available to pupils in a range of disciplines. If you wish your child to have lessons, please complete the relevant section of the authorisation form or contact the Director of Music.

The charge for a 40-minute lesson will be £33.00. At the discretion of the teacher, pupils may be taught in pairs or larger groups, with an adjustment to the fee.
Music instruments can generally be hired, but must be insured by the parent against ‘All Risks’ to the value stated by the music department.

Unless notice of cancellation is given in writing, it will be assumed that the pupil requires tuition to continue from term to term, and arrangements will be made accordingly. If parents wish to give notice, they must allow a period equivalent to ten lessons from the day of that notice, and an appropriate charge may be made to recover costs incurred.

Fees for extra tuition

Private tuition for additional foreign languages, special educational needs and other subjects not offered within the curriculum may be provided and will be charged (pro rata) at an hourly rate of £53.50.

 

Preparatory School

What our fees include for the 2016/17 academic year

We understand the pressures on the modern parent and that is why our fees include:

Flexi-boarding

The flexi-boarding option will enable your child to board for up to 3 nights each week, including both week days and weekends, and is available for Years 4 - 8. As with all our other options, fees will be charged termly in advance. Remissions will apply. If, on occasion, your child stays for more than 3 nights in a week, the additional nights would be charged at £39.00 per night.

HM Forces bursary

The Preparatory School offer a 20% Forces Bursary for the sons and daughters of serving members of HM Forces. The HM Forces Bursary is applicable from Year 4 onwards.

Outside of term time we also have a fantastic Kids' Club. The typical Kids’ Club day includes a wide variety of activities that 8–13's enjoy. Throughout our programme we promote self expression, confidence building and, of course, fun by offering as much choice as possible.

Time: 10.00am–4.00pm (Early Drop service from 8.00am, Late Stay until 6.00pm)

Nursery & Pre-Prep School

What our fees include for the 2016/17 academic year

Our fees in the Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School (Nursery to Year 3) include:

  • Lunch and Sandwich Tea (for those staying in after school care)
  • Snacks of fruit, milk and water throughout the day
  • Weekly swimming in our on-site 25m pool (Reception Year group onwards)
  • Regular Forest School visits
  • All School trips up to and including Year 3, including an overnight trip in Year 3

At the start of the term in which a child reaches their third birthday, they move up to the 3–4 year Nursery provision of 3 full days, 5 mornings or 5 full days.

The Early Years Grant

Bristol City Council is introducing an enhanced Early Years Grant for 3 to 4 year olds from September 2017. It is increasing from 15 hours to 30 hours. Unfortunately, it is not possible for the College to absorb this increase and as a result we will no longer accept the Early Years Grant from September 2017, although we will continue to accept the vouchers until this point.

Holiday Club

Holiday Club provides a stimulating and creative environment for 2 year olds and up. Qualified and experienced staff will support children to engage in age‐appropriate activities with particular attention paid to personal development and interaction with others.

2 year olds

As spaces are limited, early booking is essential. Holiday Club children bring a drink and packed lunch each day.
