Study GCSE Spanish | Clifton College

Spanish

Spanish

Spanish is one of the world’s major languages. It is the official language of most of South and Central America, and is becoming invaluable in a business context.

Teaching

Pupils may begin learning Spanish ab initio in the Third Form, although the majority have already completed a year’s study. We use a variety of textbook courses, according to the needs and abilities of our pupils.

These are also supplemented by further reading and listening exercises, and pupils are encouraged to regularly use our Sony Virtuoso digital language laboratory, where they may practise listening exercises individually, record oral presentations and speak in pairs.

Why Study at Clifton?

The languages are taught by highly-qualified teachers, including some native speakers. All the classrooms are very well-equipped with interactive whiteboards and the latest MFL software. We also subscribe to MFL websites, which pupils can access anywhere and further practise their skills in their chosen languages.

We offer linguistic and cultural trips to Barcelona and the Costa Brava. We regularly arrange MFL plays for our students to attend, and also invite other schools, such as the Downs, Redland High, Henleaze, Red Maids, Badminton and Clifton High.
