At Clifton College, we prioritise the health and wellbeing of our pupils, creating a safe and nurturing environment for them to flourish. Our dedicated pastoral team provides exceptional care, and our in-house catering service offers nutritious meals to energise pupils for their busy days.
House staff and matrons are trained to treat minor ailments or cuts, but any serious illnesses or injuries are immediately referred to our on-site Health Centre. The well-equipped Health Centre includes a treatment room, waiting room, consulting room and a wellbeing space.
Qualified nurses look after pupils' daily needs and specific medical conditions whilst maintaining their individual health care records. The School Doctor visits regularly and all boarders are required to register with them. If any day a child is taken ill during the school day, staff at the health centre will care for them until parents can be contacted.
Our award-winning wellbeing provision is integral to school life. Our highly trained staff regularly work with College staff to provide them with the best possible support and guidance for looking after the wellbeing of their pupils.
'The Wave' is a dedicated space within the on-site Health Centre, providing a place of relaxation, escape and contemplation for pupils. Staff are on hand to provide support, offer guidance or have conversations in a safe space.
In the impressive dining hall, 'Big School Kitchen', the professional Sodexo catering staff take pride in delivering healthy, balanced menus with plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Pupils choose their own food from a daily selection of main meals, accommodating various dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, and allergies.
The cafe in the languages building is a popular place to hang out at break and lunch times, serving a variety of snacks and main meals.
Sixth Formers also have access to their own cafe in the Crypt, where they can buy additional healthy snacks or enjoy a hot drink with friends.
“Our Upper school provision starts with a healthy, varied breakfast. Lunchtime menus are shared in advance, but we also have themed mealtimes to celebrate specific events e.g. Chinese New Year. Supper is available for Boarders and pupils who have stayed late for clubs or sports fixtures.”
