Registration Fee & Deposit

A non-returnable registration fee payment of £150 is due when a pupil’s name is entered to the College. An acceptance deposit is then required for all pupils, except those moving from Clifton College Pre-Prep to Prep School or Prep to Upper School. The College reserves the right to charge an Additional Deposit for pupils whose normal residence is outside the United Kingdom.

DepositAdditional Deposit
Pre-Prep£750One terms' fee less £750

The repayment of deposits is linked to the settlement of final fee invoices upon the departure of the pupil from Clifton College. Parents are welcome to gift the deposit to the College when a pupil leaves.

Extra Tuition

Private tuition for English as an additional Language, Special Educational Needs and subjects not offered within the curriculum may be provided, and will generally be charged at an hourly rate of £58.25, where it is lawful to do so.

Music Tuition

Music lessons are available to pupils in a range of disciplines. If you wish your child to have lessons please complete the relevant section of the authorisation form or contact the Director of Music. Please ask the Fees team for more details of any supplemental charges. At the discretion of the teacher, pupils may be taught in groups, or for different lesson lengths with an appropriate adjustment to the fee. Where available, music instruments can be hired but a deposit may be required.

Notwithstanding the College’s Terms and Conditions, if you wish to withdraw your child from music lessons, or change teacher, you must allow a period of notice equivalent to 10 lessons from the day that notice is received. Unless notice of cancellation is given in writing, it will be assumed that the pupil requires tuition to continue from term to term and arrangements will be made accordingly.

Reduction for Siblings

A reduction of the net school fee (referred to in the table overleaf) is currently offered to parents who have two children or more at the College from Reception onwards. The reductions, which are applied to the
younger children, are 5% for the second child, 20% for the third child and 50% for the fourth and any subsequent children whilst they all simultaneously attend the School. This discount remains the subject of annual review.

Fees in advance scheme

The College operates a scheme whereby, in return for a lump sum payment, the College offers a credit to be applied against each term’s fee invoice for a set number of terms. Further information is available from the Fees team upon request.

Childcare Vouchers & Tax Free Childcare

The College accepts payment against qualifying fees by childcare vouchers and Tax-Free Childcare.

Pupil Possessions & Private Medical Insurance

Unfortunately the College cannot entertain any claims for loss of, or damage to, the personal property of pupils. Parents are strongly advised to make arrangements for insuring their children’s possessions, including bicycles. This can normally be done by arranging an extension to a household contents policy or by taking out a specialist third party scheme. Private medical insurance for pupils is available through AXA PPP. Please contact the Fees team for further details.

Optional Fee Protection Insurance

We have linked with Endsleigh Insurance to provide optional school fee protection cover. This will enable you to reclaim the cost of unused fees and provides protection, if your child is off from school for a long period of time. Please contact the Fees team for more information.

Notice of Withdrawal of a Pupil or Change of Status

In accordance with the College’s terms and conditions, a minimum of a full term’s notice must be given in writing if you wish to withdraw your child from the College, or if you wish to change your child’s place at the College from one type of boarding to another or to a day place. Please note that from 1st September 2023 one and a half term’s notice is required if you intend to withdraw your child at the end of Year 11. Failing such notice, a full term’s fees will be charged.

Payment of College Accounts

School fees are billed in advance and invoices must be paid prior to the start of term. All other supplemental charges are billed in arrears and payment is due within 30 days of the invoice date. Trips and educational visits are subject to their own terms and conditions.
A variety of payment methods are available including direct debit and bank transfer. For more information on payment of accounts please contact the Fees team within the Finance Department on fees@cliftoncollege.com.

Holiday Club

Outside of term time we also have a fantastic Kids’ Club. The typical Kids’ Club day includes a wide variety of activities that 3–16 year olds enjoy. Throughout our programme we promote self-expression, confidence building and, of course, fun by offering as much choice as possible.

Time: 10.00am–4.00pm (Early Drop service from 8.00am, Late Stay until 6.00pm)
