Our newly built Nursery, Early Years Playground and Forest School provide a relaxed and creative environment.
Children thrive from a base of loving and secure relationships. This is normally provided by you as parents but it can also be provided by a key person. In our Nursery your child will be allocated a key person who will have responsibility for your child and help them feel safe and cared for. They will respond sensitively to your child’s feelings and behaviours and meet their emotional needs by giving reassurance and supporting their well-being. The key person supports physical needs too, helping with nappy changing, toileting and dressing. The key person is a familiar figure who is accessible and available as a point of contact for you daily.
Your child’s key person is responsible for ensuring all their needs are met. They will carefully plan activities that follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum in the seven key areas of learning:
- Personal, social and emotional development
- Communications and language
- Physical Development
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
In addition every child will have the opportunity to participate in Music with our own specialist Pre-Prep Music teacher in an amazing music room.
They will enjoy stories in the Pre-Prep Library that is stocked full of age appropriate books specially chosen by our librarian.
Every child will learn French through songs, stories and much loved puppets from our own French teacher.
Parents will be able to see their child’s progress by having secure access to the Interactive Learning Diary, which records observations, assessments and the child’s learning journey as well as meeting with the key person regularly. We also encourage parents, grandparents and other family members to come along to one of our regular events such as Stay and Play, tea parties or Grandparents’ Day.
Child Initiated Learning
We focus on giving your child freedom to find their own path on their own specific learning journey. We take direction from what they are interested in, keeping record of likes and dislikes and adapting our learning programme to suit. We let our Nursery children discover and explore their environment themselves whilst ensure a safe, warm, community space.
