Music is an important part of the curriculum at Clifton College. Pupils can play recorder, sing or learn an instrument and take part in a concert!
The Music curriculum is delivered by a specialist music teacher. The children develop their musical skills using percussion instruments and voices. Recorders and Strings are taught in Year 2, and children are offered lessons on a wide variety of instruments. All of Year 2 learn the violin or cello. We also run a strings group and currently run a guitar group.
In Year 3 children continue to sing in the school choir and also learn to play the recorder. The lessons provide the children with an opportunity to play together, develop their performance skills and to understand musical notation.
All our children perform regularly in concerts, assemblies and services (Harvest, Nativity and Easter). Each year, Year 3 stage a full-scale musical show in the Redgrave Theatre, in which all children from Year 2 also sing and dance to a remarkably high standard.
Parents can also book extra Music Tuition classes for their children.
