Boarding at the Prep School is a wonderful space for children around the world. Many pupils speak English as their second language and are reassured by having friends from other countries.
At Clifton College around 35% of pupils come from beyond the UK. Pupils represent over 50 countries globally which creates a wonderfully diverse community with no single country dominating the figures.
In the Prep school our European boarders come from Spain, Germany, France, Belgium and Italy and are an extremely important part of our boarding family.

Celebrating traditions
There are many UK schools that are classed as international, but a great attraction of Clifton College is that international pupils join a quintessentially British Boarding School with traditional core values, whilst continuing to celebrate their own unique traditions.
English as an Additional Language
In Years 4-6 EAL tends to be delivered in small groups or as 1:1 lessons.
In Years 7 and 8 pupils receive three lessons a week of EAL in a small group (current classes are between 3 and 5 pupils). Content includes grammar, vocabulary and cultural topics, aimed at broadening both skills in the English language and understanding of life in the UK and other English speaking countries.
There are opportunities for pupils to learn about each others' cultures and backgrounds too.
