Season’s Greetings from the Creative Writing Group and the Clifton Herald

The Creative Writing Group have reimagined ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas,’ transforming its gifts into this collection of short stories and poems. Some have a distinctly festive flavour filled with hope and awe, whilst others explore darker themes of greed, inequality, and control. From the oppressive surveillance state of A Partridge in a Pear Tree to the slapstick comedy of Twelve Drummers Drumming, we hope there’s something here for everyone to enjoy.

The wonderful team of student journalists have also been hard at work, writing, researching and editing articles for the next edition of the school newspaper, which will be published in early 2026. Here is a taste of things to come with a special festive supplement in which they continue the popular tradition of carrying out a festive taste test. This year, they added a competitive element by dividing into teams to construct and augment gingerbread houses. They hope you enjoy reading this feature as much as they enjoyed building and eating their creations!
