The prestige of this fixture and the quality of the opposition continues to set high standards in the Clifton College fixture list.
The annual Ryan Bresnahan Memorial Match is a superb occasion on and off the pitch. For most of the boys taking to the field, this would be the biggest game they will have ever played in. Not just because of the friends, pupils, parents and coaches all watching, or that the match was live streamed, ensuring their every catch, pass and tackle would be available to view online to a wider audience. This is a match with a far deeper purpose, Michelle Bresnahan (Ryan’s mother), had already spoken to both teams in the build up, educating them on Ryan’s story and recognising the part both teams play in raising awareness, funds and ultimately putting on a brilliant spectacle of school boy sport for such an important meningitis charity - A Life for a Cure.
The match lived up to its top billing with both teams exchanging the lead up until the final minutes. Clifton College finished a late try opportunity to retake the lead and win 27-24.
This year was another thrilling Ryan Bresnahan Memorial Match, providing everyone with amazing memories from a superb occasion and match.
Well done to all the teams that took part!
