Drama Scholars Workshop with the Tobacco Factory Theatre

Friday 6 March 2026

Our Drama Scholars recently took part in an inspiring workshop, led by Imogen from the Tobacco Factory Theatres. The session offered students a dynamic and engaging introduction to the production of The Tragedy of Macbeth we are proudly sponsoring at the Tobacco Factory Theatres, that they will going to see later this month.A fantastic 18 students attended the workshop, all showing impressive focus and enthusiasm. Working with Imogen, the scholars explored the whole play through a series of practical activities. Students were given key stimuli and selected scenes from the production, and then worked collaboratively to recreate and reinterpret these moments using physical theatre, vocal work, and imaginative staging.

The workshop encouraged:

  • Creative thinking and problem‑solving

  • Strong ensemble skills

  • Confident performance choices

  • A deeper understanding of the play’s themes and structure

Imogen’s professional insight gave the students a valuable glimpse into contemporary rehearsal processes, and the quality of work produced was outstanding. The group are now well‑prepared and excited to experience the live production!A group of young people rehearses in a studio. Two stand in front of a black curtain, forming a line, while others practice nearby.A huge well done to all the scholars who took part, whose commitment and creativity were exceptional. We look forward to seeing how this experience continues to shape your work in Drama.
