Clifton College Pupils Celebrate International University Success

Thursday 25 June 2026

Clifton College continues to strengthen its global outlook, with an increasing number of pupils choosing to pursue higher education overseas. This year, 17 pupils have already received offers from international universities, reflecting both the ambition of our Sixth Formers and the strong support available through Clifton College’s careers provision.

Supporting Pupils Applying Abroad

Clifton College offers dedicated guidance for pupils considering universities outside the UK. Our International Universities Co‑ordinator, Mrs Nixon, based in the Careers Department, works closely with students throughout the entire process - from identifying the best‑fit institutions to navigating application requirements, preparing documentation and ensuring submissions meet each university’s expectations.

This tailored support helps pupils explore a wide range of academic cultures, admissions systems and global opportunities.

Thinking of Studying Abroad?

The Careers Team encourages pupils to begin exploring international options as early as Year 10 or 11, as requirements vary widely between countries and institutions. Early research helps students understand:

  • academic expectations

  • cultural fit

  • evidence or portfolios required

  • standardised testing (where relevant)

  • timelines for applications

Most pupils begin regular appointments in Year 12, aiming to finalise a shortlist before applications open in Year 13.

The key message: it’s never too early to start!

Pupils interested in studying abroad are warmly encouraged to book an appointment with Mrs Nixon in the Careers Team to begin their journey.
