We would like to extend a huge congratulations to all of our pupils receiving their GCSE results today, 21% of GCSE grades were 9s and 57% were 9-7 with 35 different subjects/qualifications offered. With plenty of reason to celebrate, it was a joy to share their successes with friends, parents and teaching staff this morning.
We caught up with a few of our pupils to speak about the fantastic grades they have achieved and how the support they received helped achieve these grades:
Leyla achieved twelve grade 9s and is looking forward to going on to study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths in our Sixth Form this September. She praised teachers for always being available to help, and running useful clinics in the lead up to the exam season.
Imogen received an excellent set of results across the board, along with being the highest performer in OCR’s GCSE Physical Education exam in the UK, an incredible achievement. She will be staying on at Clifton College Sixth Form to study Geography, Maths and Chemistry, with the ambition to go to university in America to continue pursuing her passion of football. She currently plays for Bristol Rovers W.F.C.
Kaifeng achieved ten 9s, two 8s and a 7 and is looking forward to studying Chemistry, Biology, English Literature and History at Clifton College Sixth Form. He said he had loads of support from all of his teachers, they were very helpful and they gave him a lot of targeted work that helped to improve his grades.
Lottie achieved six 9s, one 8 and two 7s, she is continuing to the Sixth Form where she will be studying Chemistry, P.E., Business and Maths. She said all her teachers were so kind, motivating and supportive, and especially enjoyed Mr McNally’s YouTube videos!
James achieved a great set of results, and the subjects he wants to study at our Sixth Form are the ones he did especially well in. He will be studying Maths, Further Maths, Computer Science and Physics. He said the support he received from his teachers helped him tremendously and he wouldn’t have been able to get his grades without them.
Head of College, Dr Tim Greene, said: “I would like to congratulate all our pupils on achieving such an impressive set of results. Today’s success is a true reflection of their hard work and the dedication of their teachers. I am very much looking forward to welcoming everyone back in a few weeks as they begin their post-16 studies and make the most of all that the Sixth Form has to offer.”
Deputy Head Academic, Dr Gavin Turner, said: “Our Year 11 pupils have demonstrated dedication and resilience in achieving a strong set of GCSE results. These grades are a reflection of their hard work, curiosity, and the steady progress they have made across a broad and demanding curriculum. We are equally proud of the teaching staff who have supported and inspired them every step of the way, fostering a love of learning and a belief in their own potential. As these students move into Sixth Form, they do so with a solid foundation and the confidence to embrace new academic challenges.”
Congratulations once again from all of us at Clifton College, we hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and look forward to welcoming you back to the Sixth Form in September, where 80% of our students will be staying on.
