Clifton College and PHET host London reception

Tuesday 7 October 2025

In September, the Polack’s House Educational Trust (PHET) and Clifton College hosted a reception in London, bringing together Old Polackians for an evening to reconnect with their peers and their school.

Polack’s House, founded in 1878, was the first dedicated Jewish boarding house at a UK independent school. Though the House closed in 2005, its spirit ensued through the work of PHET and the College’s thriving Jewish Life programme. The programme provides pupils with regular opportunities to celebrate festivals, engage in Jewish learning and to practice their faith alongside their studies.

The reception also served as a platform to highlight  PHET’s generous and longstanding  support for Jewish education and identity at Clifton through the bursarial support it provides. Representatives from PHET spoke warmly of the life-long values Polack’s House gave them; these traditions continue to positively shape the experiences of pupils today.

The evening strengthened the deep bond between the College and our alumni. It is with thanks to their ongoing support that our Jewish Life programme will remain a vital part of our vibrant school community for many years to come.

We would like to thank everyone who attended for joining us, we look forward to seeing you at a College event soon.
