The Senior Kadoorie Competition proved a most enjoyable evening for an audience of friends, teachers, parents and scholars - with all of the Sixth Form scholars attending prior to the annual Kendrew Dinner.
The programme was highly varied, from Bach, Buxtehude and Martinu to Andrew Lloyd Webber and even The Book of Mormon! Adjudicator Tom Williams (Director of the Clifton International Festival of Music) was thrilled with the high quality of performance throughout.
Once he had offered some helpful words of advice (particularly on bowing!), he gave the Instrumental Award to Hannah Wilkie for her stunning rendition of Holst's Invocation for Cello and the Vocal Award to Ally Cheug for songs from Wicked and Les Misérables.
The music by turns offered an opportunity to sit and reflect during more serious repertoire or to be amused and entertained in the light-hearted numbers and I think we all went away feeling much the better for listening to it all.
Thank you so much to all performers, regardless of whether they won a prize this time or not.
