On Saturday, the College's 1st and 2nd sailing team competed in the British Schools Dinghy Racing Association's Southern Area Championships. This is the first regatta of the summer season and gave Clifton a chance to compete against the majority of the top teams in the country.
The 2nd team raced in the same league as the the 1sts and were up against fast and experienced teams. Unfortunately, they were not able to record a win, but did have some close races and learnt a lot from the regatta that will help them in the coming season.
The 1sts had a mixed day, winning six races in total, including two particularly pleasing performances against Eton and Tonbridge. However, narrow loses against the Royal Grammar School Guildford and Cranleigh School cost us a place in the semi-finals and the team eventually finished with a respectable 6th place.
