The annual concert held in honour of OC musician and Clifton supporter Joseph Cooper OBE was held on Wednesday 20th March and was a real triumph. The standard of performances was universally high and a highly varied programme was on offer.
Starting with a burst of bagpipes from Year 9 student Jamie, we moved into classical sophistication from groups such as the flute ensemble (Mendelssohn's Scherzo from his music for A Midsummer Night's Dream), part of Grieg's Holberg Suite from the strings and the beautiful theme from Swan Lake played by the orchestra.
To contrast with these we had the theme from Rocky (brass group), The Pink Panther (sax group) and great music from the jazz ensemble. The evening ended on a real high with Walton's Crown Imperial played by the full Orchestra.
As we near the end of a busy term, it was wonderful to speak to audience members afterwards who felt really uplifted and positive after a very enjoyable evening. Well done to all involved - this was an impressive culmination of a term's hard work.
