The wonderful Tom Pollock visited Clifton College yesterday to talk to Year 9 about Red Rabbit, White Wolf, a fantastically tense thriller about “murder, maths and the mind”.
He also discussed his work as an ambassador for Talklife, the peer support network for youth mental health. Tom spoke candidly about his own experience with depression, anxiety and bulimia and encouraged students to think about mental health in the same way as they would physical health.
Tom’s visit ended with an engaging workshop with our Creative Writing group that focused on the creation of convincing characters. The group were challenged to consider the desires, fears and motivation of Melania Trump as a starting point, encouraging some writers to consider the imagined existential angst of the First Lady!
