Year 5 butterfly art workshop

Year 5 butterfly art workshop

IMG_2464Our Year 5 children were recently visited by Anya Beaument, who is an artist, mapper and lecturer. Frequently using recycled materials gathered from the site she is responding to, her work is often, but not exclusively, made from paper. She also works in recycled plastics, fabrics, resins and metal.

IMG_2467In lessons this term, Year 5 have been learning about butterflies. After a successful visit to Bristol Zoo’s butterfly house, the children were ready to take on the challenge of creating their own butterfly sculptures.

During the workshop, Anya assisted the children in creating a spectrum of beautifully coloured butterflies made from plastic. Be sure to pop down to the art room, where you can find these beautiful pieces of art on permanent display.
