Today at Forest School we celebrated World Habitat Day with some of our Nursery children.
Mr Fox taught the children about the different species of animal you can find in the forest with cuddly toy creatures such as a fox, owl, hedgehog, mouse and a friendly family of rabbits. He also taught them where the animals like to sleep, what they like to eat and which ones settle down in the winter to hibernate.
The children had a go at building nests for the birds and the mouse, along with making different types of dens for the fox and hedgehogs. They had a great time working together to move bits of twig, beautiful orange leaves and other forest floor goodies to build them.
After some spare time to blow dandelion seeds and practice roly-polys down the grass hill, a nice cup of hot choccy and a biscuit was a big hit - as things are starting to feel very autumnal in the forest!
