As part of their Victorians topic, our Year 3 children have experienced a day in the life of a Victorian child today.
Dressed in their authentic Victorian school outfits, Year 3 have learnt how to spend the day without electricity and modern technology, which we can often take for granted during modern life. They've practiced writing on chalk boards and using fountain pens, they've also learnt how Victorian children were expected to conduct themselves at school.
At lunchtime, the children even gave gruel a go, which was a typical dish during this period. It's a food consisting of some type of cereal oat, wheat or rye flour, or rice boiled in water or milk - it certainly wasn't fish and chips Friday!
