Autumn Concert 2018

Autumn Concert 2018

Over 70 pupils performed in the Autumn Concert yesterday evening, with several items being on the theme of remembrance and wartime to mark the 1918 armistice centenary.

The orchestra, conducted by pupil Romain Bornes, performed the Allegretto from Beethoven's Symphony No.7 (written during the Napoleonic Wars and used in the film The King's Speech), alongside Elgar's 'Imperial March'; the senior cello trio complemented this with David Popper's elegiac 'Requiem'.

Other repertoire was heard courtesy of flute, brass and guitar groups, soul band, and the string orchestra. The newly-formed Concert Band drew together wind, brass and percussionists in a lively James Bond selection, with pupils performing on instruments ranging from bass clarinet, bassoon and tuba to piccolo, timpani and glockenspiel.

A varied and high-quality evening - well done to all.
