We are proud to announce the release of a Clifton College Choir CD which was professionally recorded last term with producer Gary Cole of Regent Records.
The anthem This is the Chapel was written in 2012 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the founding of Clifton College. It is the title track of the new CD, which contains several anthems for choir, organ and brass, along with congregational hymns and organ solos.
The inspiration for the programme was an incredible concert which inaugurated the new 32ft Double Ophicleide extension pipes for the Chapel organ which were installed in August 2017.
The refurbishment of the organ was thanks to the generosity of many benefactors after the successful completion of fundraising for the Willcocks Memorial Appeal (in honour of Old Cliftonian Sir David Willcocks, 1919-2015).
The concert was so well-received by the audience that is seemed appropriate to create a permanent record of the occasion and to allow others to hear the music that was performed.
It took two days to record the Chapel Choirs, Chamber Choir and individual organ scholars for the CD and it was a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
The whole Upper School also had the chance to take part and were recorded singing Libera Me (Faure) and the popular I vow to thee, my country.
Dan Robson, Director of Music, said: “Many thanks to the Head Master Dr Tim Greene, Chaplain Simon Chapman, Director of Prep School Chapel Choir David Pafford, staff and students of Clifton College, and all those who performed and otherwise helped to make this recording possible.”
The CD is available to purchase online here from May 18th. It will also be sold at Commem from the OC gazebo and from the Music Department office.
