Clifton College Rowing Team Win at Bridgnorth Regatta

The Clifton College 1st XI Rowing team won the prestigious Lieutenant Colonel Marsh Memorial Trophy at Bridgnorth Regatta on Saturday.

The team of Louis Powell, Bradley Fletcher, Cameron Watkins, Charlie Condell and Lily Mustin raced superbly in the final men’s open coxed 4’s event against Northwich Rowing Club.

Alessandro Portante also won the open double sculls event, securing his first win in a Clifton College vest.

Kate Scrutton raced impressively in her first regatta to make the final of the women’s open double sculls event, whilst Briden Whitbread, Arthur Sheppard Cappuro and Justin Smith all raced well in their single sculls events but were pipped on the line.

The Junior 15 girls team of Mia Nissam, Daisy Parkinson, Alice Sharpe-Neal, Zhanna Oganesove and Nick Moody also competed at their first ever event having taken up the sport seven weeks ago to show that there is strength and depth to the Clifton College Boat Club.

We would like to say thank you again to OC Lin Wilson and his wife Judith who kindly donated three boats to the rowing club this year. Alessandro used both a single and the double from Lin and Judith and Kate used the second single.
