We were delighted to welcome Llandovery College to the eighth Ryan Bresnahan Memorial Rugby Match played at Bristol Rugby Club.
For the first time at the event, we also held an U16 match, against Millfield School, as well as the first girls’ matches. The girls competed in sevens against Llandovery College and Millfield School.
All proceeds went to A Life for a Cure (Ryan Bresnahan’s Meningitis Appeal) who raises funds for meningitis research and awareness following the tragic death of Clifton College pupil Ryan Bresnahan in March 2010. Ryan’s family John, Michelle and Charlotte Bresnahan have worked tirelessly for the cause.
It was once again an emotional occasion when the teams walked onto the field and faced the grandstand for a minute’s applause for Ryan. There were some hugely passionate performances by all teams and the evening ended with Clifton College winning the memorial match.
Many thanks go to Andy and Diana Sayner and Clifton Rugby Club for their hospitality and support for the fixture which has been unwavering since the first match in 2010.
Thank you to Pat Lam, Head Coach of Bristol Rugby, for presenting the trophy and to Bristol Rugby for the use of their pitch.
Thanks also go to all participating schools and supporters for making this evening so memorable.
