We were delighted to welcome Jo Ruxton, Co-founder of the Plastic Oceans Foundation, who joined the Preparatory School for a morning of inspirational workshops about our plastic consumption and its effect on the planet’s waters.
The pupils listened intently to Jo’s messages and were in awe of some of the extraordinary film footage from her documentary Plastic Oceans. The story of a shark allowing a diver to cut it free from a plastic bottle lid/ring was extremely poignant and memorable for the pupils.
They then took on the roles of media students, becoming producers, directors and presenters to create their own informative news report on how they could help reduce their plastic use. High Down Junior School also joined us for one of Jo’s workshops and it was a pleasure to have them share their take on how we can reduce our plastic use.
Jo emphasised that the children are the most important people on the planet right now. Without exception, each of them can make a massive difference to the future of their family, themselves and their future families.
We cannot thank Jo enough for the inspirational morning. To find out more about this great project, please visit www.plasticoceans.org
