Congratulations to our U18 rugby team who played brilliantly to reach the final and finish as runners up at the Rugby School International Sevens Tournament at the weekend.
A select number of teams from the UK, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan, Canada and Australia were invited to take part in the prestigious tournament to celebrate Rugby School’s 450th anniversary.
Clifton College represented England along with Rugby School and Marlborough College.
Clifton won three of their group matches, lost one and drew one to make the semi-final for the Cup Competition against Rugby School, which they won.
This put Clifton in the final against South Africa’s Hilton College but unfortunately Hilton College (pictured with Clifton below) proved the stronger side and won the competition 22-7.
Sports coach Paul Askew said: “It was a fantastic two days and a real honour to be involved in the tournament. The boys played really well and it was a great result to come second in the competition overall. They should be very proud of their achievement.”
