Pupils get inspired by acclaimed author in creative writing workshops

Our pupils were happy to welcome award winning author and illustrator Chris Priestley to our Preparatory school. Chris studied illustration at university and had great success as an illustrator with clients such as The Times and The Independent. He wrote his first children’s book in 2000, and his most recent book Anything That Isn’t This was nominated for the prestigious Carnegie Award. Chris has a taste for the weird, the strange and the uncanny, and these themes often come across in his books.

Chris talked to Years 7 and 8 about his life and the inspiration behind his books. He then held creative writing workshops in the library with Year 6, where the class worked together to create a creepy story.

Chris signed books for pupils and answered questions about how to become an author. He commented on how well everyone behaved and said it was a pleasure to work with such creative minds.
