anne guy concert

Oboe player and pupil Becky Pughe has won this year’s Anne Guy competition and received the Joseph Cooper Scholarship.

This event was a wonderful opportunity for our top musicians to play in front of an audience of adults and children and was judged by members of the Churchill Academy's Performing Arts Faculty.

Other Preparatory School musicians who also performed beautifully were Lydia Arikan and Cerys Jones (trumpets), Joseph Taylor, Nick Przemioslo and Isabella Macfarlane (voice), and Ollie Hills (drums).

The competition was named after former School Governor Anne Guy who loved music and was very supportive of the Preparatory School. She donated, anonymously at first, the cup for the Preparatory School Musicians competition. After her death, the then Headmaster Bob Acheson, named the competition after her to honour her memory.

Well done to our young musicians for taking part and excelling in such a special competition!
