Student Carwyn Penny joins Gloucester Rugby

A huge congratulations to Carwyn Penny who has become the College’s fourth contracted rugby player after agreeing terms to join Gloucester Rugby as a professional player next season.

Carwyn, who captained the College’s 1st XV this year, has been in stunning form all season culminating in his selection in the Welsh U18 squad.

Clifton College Director of Rugby Matt Salter described Carwyn "as a unique talent who, although fundamentally a fly half, has such speed and agility that he can play comfortably all across the back line.” He added “He has been an outstanding competitor and leader on the field for Clifton and his signing of professional terms is just reward for all his hard work and dedication over the past five years."

Carwyn featured on the recent Premiership A-League fixture at Kingsholm where he scored a late try to seal the victory for Gloucester and put them into the semi-finals. Watch Carwyn's attempt in the video below.

We wish Carwyn and all our newly contracted students the very best of luck in their sporting careers.
