We were delighted to welcome willow artist Julie Starks to the Prep School to work with Year 5 in October.
Julie creates artwork that reflects her fascination with ecosystems, sustainability and the fractal nature of our world. Much of her work emphasises the beauty of structure, texture and pattern in natural objects using willow.
During the workshop, Year 5 students were given the opportunity to work with willow to create large scale skeletal butterfly sculptures. The sculptures will be painted in the pupils' art lessons in the coming weeks.
The pupils all learned several new skills which have helped them create their beautiful willow butterflies. Thank you to Julie for helping to inspire our Year 5 pupils!
