We are pleased to announce that Dr Tim Greene has been appointed as the new Head of Clifton College.
Dr Greene, who has been Acting Head since January, joined the College in 2006. In his previous role as Head of Academic he was a key driving force behind the School’s rising academic standards, which resulted in record results last year.
Dr Greene was educated at Methodist College Belfast, before going on to read Chemistry at Exeter College, Oxford. He subsequently took his D.Phil. and became a Senior Research Fellow in Inorganic Chemistry at Jesus College, Oxford. In 2001, he joined the Chemistry Department at Exeter University, moving into secondary education in 2005.
Chairman of Council at Clifton College, Richard Morgan, said: “The Council’s criteria were a first-class leader with a successful and relevant track record, proven academic ability and foresight combined with emotional intelligence, excellent communication skills and dynamism.
“In the face of strong competition, the result was an overwhelming vote in favour of Dr Greene. We are delighted that he has accepted the role and believe that pupils and staff at Clifton College can look forward to the next chapter in its history with both confidence and excitement.”
Dr Greene said: “I am absolutely delighted to be taking up the role of Head of College. Clifton has never been stronger. We have just had our best ever results last summer and our facilities for sport and our co-curricular provision are outstanding. It is a real privilege to lead this College into the next phase of its development.”
