Clifton College 1st XI hockey girls third in country - 11 March 2016

The senior 1st XI Hockey team yesterday won the bronze medal at the Investec National Hockey Championships at the Olympic Park in London, facing tough competition in all rounds and thoroughly deserving their medal winning place.

The girls played four matches, winning three and only losing one to Repton, who then went on to win the championship overall.

The girls started on the front foot against Stockport, winning 3-0. After being overpowered by Repton 4-1 in the second game, the girls regrouped and came back fighting for the last day of the championships, beating Kingston Grammer School 2-1 in the final group game. The girls then went on to beat Leeds Grammar School on penalties in the playoff to win the bronze medal.

Third in the country is an incredible achievement. From everyone across Clifton College, we would like to send our congratulations to the amazing hockey girls who gave everything this week and came out with a fantastic result.

Well done!
