Clifton Cricket 1st XI are through to the South West finals of the National Schools T20 championship, after beating King's Taunton at the beginning of the week.
132 schools take part in the competition, and include some of the top cricket schools in the country. Clifton are now through to play Millfield School in the South West area final, and the winner of this goes on to play Wellington College, Berkshire for a place in the final four. This will take place on finals day at Arundel Castle on Friday 1st July.
The South West Group is always very hard fought, with the rivalry between Millfield and King's Taunton in the South of the region, and Clifton and South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (Filton) usually seeing these four contest the SW semi-finals.
Going into the game on Monday, King's had won 11 from 11 games, which had already included a comfortable 50 over win against Clifton. This saw them being ranked as the No 1 side in the South West of England.
This win was a fantastic result for Clifton, and shows that Clifton's cricket is becoming a sporting strength that will be built on in future years.
