This week, a selection of Upper School pupils took part in Architecture Day - a workshop led event that tasked pupils with seeing a project through to completion, and then presenting it to industry experts.
Their brief this year was 'socially and morally responsible design.' The students had been given the task of designing something for the Bear Pit here in Bristol that benefited the community and tackled some of the area's issues. After a site visit in the morning, they planned and constructed their ideas from sketches, drawings and photographs in their teams alongside two professional architects - OC Kyle Buchanan and the Director of the Bear Pit Improvement Society Katherine Hegarty (also an architect).
The quality of the ideas, concepts and models were exemplary, and our guests were impressed with our student's dedication and hard work throughout the day. There was fantastic thought behind each of the teams' projects, and the model making itself. There was however one overall winner, and well done to Team 3 who presented some fantastic, simple ideas alongside some ingenious design solutions.
