RN Sea King Helicopter

15 students from the Royal Navy and RAF sections of the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) were given the chance to fly on a Royal Navy Sea King helicopter at Clifton College yesterday (Tuesday).

The students, who were accompanied by five CCF officers, ranged from 14 to 18 years old and were all thrilled to have such an amazing opportunity.

During the flight the passengers were rotated within the craft to be able to stand immediately behind the pilots to watch how the craft was flown, through to being strapped in by the winch-man next to the open door. The flight lasted for just over 20 minutes during which time the cadets flew over Bristol and up the River Severn valley into Gloucestershire.

This will be the last opportunity for our cadets and staff to fly on a RN Sea King helicopter as the helicopters are being retired from service next month. It was an incredible opportunity and one that will not be forgotten.
