Sixth Form students win Bath School Fencing Competition

A group of Sixth Form students have won the annual Bath School Fencing Competition and received two trophies after achieving the highest score overall and for foil.

George Brown, Wan Hee Tang, Jason Weerawardena and Tamerlan Zhutayev demonstrated great passion and determination in the competition and achieved some excellent individual results, including second in sabre and foil for George and third in sabre and first in foil for Wan Hee. Three of the students have been fencing at Clifton College for four years, with Tamerlan having started only this term.

Captain of the fencing team at Clifton College, George Brown, said: “I am happy with the results. Some of the stages were quite tough especially when Wan Hee and I had to fence each other to get into the final. The final fight was really difficult; the fencer who defeated me has been to European championships recently so it was a tough but enjoyable competition.”

Congratulation on such a fantastic result and good luck with future competitions!
