Ceramic Artist and Aardman model maker Gill Bliss visits Clifton College - 13 October 2015

On Tuesday 13th October ceramic artist and Aardman model maker Gill Bliss visits the Art Department to work with Year 7 in two half day ceramic workshops.

Gill Bliss has been making and exhibiting her ceramic works for over 30 years alongside working freelance in the animation industry and lecturing. She has worked for Aardman animations on Chicken run, wallace and Gromite, The Curse of the Were Rabitt, Creature Comforts and Timmy Time.

Since the beginning of the term Year 7 have been studying Lions.  They went to visit Bristol Zoo to complete research and observational drawings in preparation for the workshop.

Gill worked with the pupils to produce ceramic lion heads. She showed them how to create a structure in clay and worked with them to produce a finished lion head. The Year 7 pupils learnt how to transfer their two dimensional drawings into a three dimensional form.

It was a productive but fun day for all!
