Kate Percy, marathon runner and author of ‘Go Faster Food’, visited Reception to talk about healthy eating and made some delicious smoothies and energy balls with the children.
Kate loves outdoor fitness, along with being a marathon runner she cycles, skis, swims, kayaks and sails! She is passionate about eating the right foods for the best performance which inspired her ‘eat like an athlete’ project.
Reception learnt about carbohydrates, protein, fats and sugars and the types of foods which will give you the most energy to lead an action packed life.
The children loved making smoothies made out of frozen cherries, milk, yoghurt and honey and also energy balls made from dates, raisins, honey and coconut.
