Congratulations to Clifton College music scholar Hannah Wilkie who was selected to take part in a masterclass with internationally renowned 'cellist Julian Lloyd Webber, brother of the famous impresario of musical theatre Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Hannah recently gained a grade 8 distinction for 'cello, and although a little daunted by playing to such an illustrious performer, she played brilliantly and took his praise and constructive criticism extremely well. The masterclass took place on the stage at St George's Bristol where Julian was involved in a concert, which Hannah was then invited to attend. As well as working with the famous cellist, she was also lucky enough to be accompanied by his pianist in an informal run through of a piece of Faure she is currently working on.
'It was a bit scary at the time,' says Hannah, 'but there was no need to be nervous and it was such an important experience. I am very grateful for having this opportunity and it is one I will always remember'.
Well done - we look forward to hearing more of Hannah performing at College!
