On Monday 12th January local printmaker Mary Collett visited Clifton College to conduct a printmaking workshop with Year 6 pupils.
Mary is a Bristol based printmaker who enjoys making lino prints of birds and animals ‘and maybe even a few people’, she adds. ‘I particularly love to invent expressions for the birds and animals’.
As part of their project on penguins, Year 6 have visited Bristol Zoo to take photographs and drawings from direct observation and completed white pencil and chalk pastel penguin studies in lessons which they have used to inform their penguin prints. During the workshop, pupils learnt to cut out and print from individual lino plates.
